About Egyptian Health Department
The Egyptian Health Department was founded in 1952 as a Public Health Department. A full complement of Mental Health services was added in 1972 changing the name to the Egyptian Public and Mental Health Department. Egyptian Health Department is governed by a Board of Health.
The counties served by the department are Saline, Gallatin, and White. The three combined counties have a population of 45,167 (2010 US Census), a decrease of 3,378 since the 2000 Census.
The Egyptian Public & Mental Health Department has offices located in Eldorado (Saline County), Carmi (White County) and Ridgway (Gallatin County). A wide variety of community services are provided in both the Public Health Division and Behavioral Health Division.
