Each year, breast cancer claims the lives of approximately 40,000 women in the United States. It is the most common form of cancer in women and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Every three minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. Though the statistics are staggering, there is hope.
Ticket for the Cure is a grant funded program focused on:
- Early Detection and Treatment
- Education
- Research
- Increasing awareness of services available to breast cancer victims
Preventive Services Offered:
- Informative brochures and presentations regarding monthly self-exams, risk factors, and screenings
- Mammograms and Ultrasounds
- Nutrition Guidelines
Services provided for breast cancer patients through Ticket for the Cure include:
- Reimbursement for transportation costs to and from treatment
- Coverage of child care costs during treatments
- Medical assistance
- Providing wigs and/or prosthetics
- Peer Support Groups
- Eligibility requirements:
- Must be at or below the 250% Federal poverty guideline
- Resident of Saline, Gallatin, or White County
- Proof of Income
- Lack of medical coverage
- Proof of insurance deductibles
Egyptian Health Department works in conjunction with Ferrell Hospital to provide screenings.
